In this work, MIPMAP distributed an early access version on Steam on May 20, 2022. The board game Roll Player, which is the basis of this work, was a work released by ThunderWorks Games in 2016. In Japan, Arklight Company has released a complete Japanese version in 2018, so it has become a hot topic in Japan from its game concept.
It is a game of character makeup that is performed before playing RPG and TRPG. The purpose is to compete between players for how good you can make a good character. In the dungeon RPG Wizardry series, it seems that it is a work that suits those who take a long time over a long time to make a good initial status (and it is difficult to start on an adventure). Or, in TRPG, it's a person who spends time to make an elaborate setting character. I have experience).
For such people, this work is a board game that can be played by 1 to 4 people under the concept of enjoy character makeup and compete. At the end of the character makeup, the game ends, and the stars (victory points) can be obtained depending on the status, attributes, items, or the character as set. It's the most player with the stars (I can't go on an adventure). This work will be the digital version, but let's play what kind of game it will be!
First (and until the end) character makeup!
In the game mode of this work, there are pass & play (offline multiplayer) and tutorial besides solo play . Although it is not currently supported online multiplayer, it seems that online multi on the cross platform is planned in the future.
This time, play from the tutorial. However, even if it is a tutorial, there is only a description text on a normal solo play, so you have to think and play it yourself. Since there is a Japanese version of the board game, you can find a site or video that explains the rules by searching the Internet. You should also refer to them. On the official board game website, you can download the rules book (English) in PDF format. Overseas board games should be easy to obtain rule books.
The race used in the tutorial is Dragon Kin (Dragon) . In addition, you can use the familiar races of fantasy RPG, such as dwarf and elf, humans, and half-ring .
The next choice of the race is the occupation. This time, there are two choices, ranger and druid , which were randomly distributed (in the board game, the occupation is written on the front and back of the one card distributed. Select the surface). In addition, familiar occupations such as sorcerer , cleric, paradin have appeared. Each profession also has unique skills.
Characters include str (muscle strength), DEX (Toshiyoshi), con (durability), int (intelligence), WIS (wisdom), and CHA **. By placing the dice described later, you can achieve the specified numerical value to get a star (victory point) (for example, the star +2 for STR14-15). It will be the winner of many stars.
For each race, these six parameters are modified. For example, since Dragon Kin is a power character, strer has +2 correction , but dex is-2 because the movement is slow. Be careful because the occupations that require a high DEX are difficult to take a star. However, both the ranger and the druid are severe because high DEX is required. This time, I selected Dleids, taking into account the ease of removing the stars of other parameters.
Next, attribute card (image center left) and Setting Card (image center right) will be distributed randomly. Which attribute card belongs to the so-called good, evil, order, chaos . It is a 3x3 board and starts in the center (neutral / neutral). The top and bottom are good, neutral, evil, and the left and right are order, neutral, chaos, and the attributes move during the game. Stars +3, Star-1, etc. are written on the board, and you can get this score depending on where it stopped at the end of the game. It is necessary to adjust the attribute so that it becomes star +3. This time, you can get a star +3 in Order / Neutral, so let's aim here.
It is a configuration card, but this is a character back story. This time, Selected person . I was born with a holy seal. According to the prophet, it will give a strong power and great influence on the kingdom. However, these are just flavors, and in order to acquire stars, the dice color and the placement location must be matched (described later).
Next is the initial setup. Shake the five dice and place them in the six parameter columns. Attached to one parameter, up to three dice can be placed . The total value is the value of the parameter.
For the time being, all five dice are placed. For example, if you put three four-eye dice in STR, the total will be 12. In addition, Dragon Kin has a modification of STR+2, so the final total is 14. Druid can get stars +2 if the STR is 14-15, so this is a star.
Currently, STR has a second-eye yellow dice, so the total value is 2. During the game, you can change the dice you have already put, so let's aim for the total value of 14 to 15 from here.
Game play (character makeup) starts!
Start the game from here. But what you do is character makeup. First is roll phase . In the case of 1 or two players, shake three dice (4 plays for 3 players, 5 players), and place one of them in your favorite parameters. The game ends at the time when the six parameters dice are filled (6x3 = 18) . At that time, the player is the most common player. In single play, it is a way of playing to update your highest record.
After shaking, the three dice are arranged in the lower order of numbers. In multiplayer, the more people who take the dice of the numbers, the more delayed the order of shopping at the Market Phase described later. Also, if you take the dice at the end of the edge (the first and third if you play 1-2 people), you will get one gold. Gold is used for shopping.
Depending on where the dice is placed, the parameter ability is activated. This time, since it was placed on WIS, you can move the attribute one step on one of the top, down, left and right . The parameter ability is summarized below. By the way, if you do not want to activate the ability, you do not have to let it do.
When the parameter ability is activated, the next is Market Phase . You can shop using gold, but before that, the ability of the druid is activated. You can Return one from the discarded bill to the market before the market phase . The market is randomly lined up at the market. One item, you can add a card arbitrarily, so it is quite powerful.
This time, I added the equipment card mysterious head from the discarded bill to the market. Equipment can acquire stars by collecting the same system. For example, in the Mysterious series, you can hit the high score, +1 stars+3 stars for one type, 2 stars, 3 stars +6.
Also, if it is equipped with the same color as occupation, additional points . Since the druid is green, the color matches the equipment, so you can get an additional star +1. In multiplayer, shopping will be competing, so it may be difficult to arrange.
Purchased the mysterious head returned from the abandoned bill to the market with the ability of the druid in 4 gold (the price is displayed on the upper right of the card). If you don't buy anything (or if you can't buy it because you don't have enough money), you can get two gold by selecting and discarding one of your favorite cards.
When the market phase is over, return to the roll phase that shakes three dice. The cards lined up in the market are renewed. Repeat these flow until three dice are placed in all parameters.
By the way, there is a place where the color of the dice is specified in the dice storage area (a total of 6 places), but this is the score of the Setting Card. If it is a selected person, the match is 1 point in 2-3 places, 3 points in 4-5 places, 6 points in 6 places in 6 places. It's relatively easy to get points, so it's a good idea to aim aggressively.
We did the turn and gathered all three types of Mysterious series. Now get 6 stars. By the way, there are weapons as well as armor. If you equip both hands weapons, you will not be able to equip the shield, and there is an RPG-like feeling in the details.
Some cards provide a different way of acquiring stars. For example, the fool card can change the parameter star acquisition conditions, If the int or WIS is 8 or less, the star+2 . In addition, it is possible to acquire stars under various conditions such as If the dice numbers placed in the parameters are all the same, star+2 **.
And if the card has an arrow, the attribute will move in that direction when purchased. With a stupid card, it moves one step in the direction of chaos. It can also be used to adjust the attributes, but be careful not to reduce the score by moving poorly at the end of the game.
Skill cards can take action every turn. The concentration card in the image can activate your favorite parameter ability. However, since the attribute moves after activation (concentration is one step for order), it is better to be careful at the end of the game.
Three dice are placed on each parameter and the game ends. The result was 30 points . For one person, there is something like a rank depending on the score. If it is 30 points, it is commander . The highest rank is the true hero and requires more than 38 points. Can you really reach the true hero? Please play with your own hands.
Online multi and extensions are long-awaited

This work ends at the stage of making the character, but in the board game, the expansion of Monsters & Minions has been released. In the extension, it is possible to go on an adventure with the created character. A Japanese version has been released in Japan as well. You can enjoy battle with monsters (from Zako to boss), so I want you to support the digital version with DLC.
And this work is not supported in Japanese, but if you understand the rules and read a short sentence on the card, it will hinder play. The game itself is fun, but now it is early access, so basically only solo play. Not only online multi, but also AI opponent cannot play.
